To help Hinge resonate with Germany’s Gen Z, we delivered a cultural deep dive into the dynamics shaping modern dating. Through a mix of research, real conversations, and cultural decoding, we uncovered what truly matters to young daters today. The outcome laid the foundation for a hyperlocal strategy designed to grow Hinge’s relevance and market share in Germany.

Cultural Foundations, Real Conversations

We started with a deep research phase, combining desk research, social listening, and trend mapping to surface key tensions, expectations, and whitespace in the German dating space.

From there, we conducted 20 in-depth interviews with Gen Z daters across major cities, alongside expert conversations exploring love, identity, vulnerability, and connection. The result: a set of culturally grounded insights rooted in lived experience.

Unlocking Success

The final deliverable was a visually-led insight report—part research, part roadmap. Alongside deep cultural truths, we introduced five strategic pillars under the banner Unlocking Local Relevance, built to guide messaging, creator partnerships, content development, and more.
